The Lure Of Civil Service & Nation Building Sparks Again

A Big Leap From Dream To Reality
When Indian Civil Services came into being, they were the best prospect for the
youth of the nation. The gravitas, the power and the status the position offered were
second to none. Yes, the money and the stability the job provided were part of it, but
let us be honest it was more about building the nation as we know it than anything
else. Being an IAS officer was a dream that the young adults of a young India
dreamed. They were tempted and attracted to the opportunity to mould the nation
into a new path.

IAS Coaching Centres Watch In Awe At Corporate World
But let me remind you, that tides wait for no one. They will ebb and flow as they wish
and the same applied to civil services. The dark cloud of corruption and the tempting
red apple of the corporate world called to the minds of graduates. Soon the same
youth who was so keen to be part of constructing a nation that rules justly and
effectively were lured away by multinationals.
The deep pockets of big brands and companies offered young people the space to be
creative. They gave them the freedom of a better work culture along with being paid
far more than their civilian counterparts. When merit is rewarded, again and again, it
becomes the leverage on which people choose you, and that is precisely what
corporate sector did. They promoted and raised the salary of people who worked
better and harder.

Make It Happen Again, Urges IAS Academies in Chennai
In recent years, the tide has changed yet again. Civil Services have become the
coveted job for the newly minted. The pull of security and power has once again
made its impact. The younger generation is slowly growing more cognizant of the
value of being a purposeful person who can make decisions that can influence the
entire nation. This change in thought process, I believe, is more because of the
prevalence of institutes and coaching centres for IAS exam. An All India civil
services coaching centre Chennai, plays a pivotal role in providing excellent
coaching.

They have made the next generation aware that people who do not buckle under
pressure are needed. They have made it clear that honest intellectuals that are not
swayed by corruption or greed are required. They have ensured that these fledging
students realise that if we want our nation to change, we need people who can weigh
multiple factors simultaneously to make final decisions all the while maintaining
their stature. There is only one question that needs must be asked.

IAS Coaching Centres Trusts in Youth with Passion & Determination
Does the Gen Z have what it takes? Can they honestly give themselves to the service
of the nation? Because coaching academies like Chinmaya can only take them so far.
Yes, I know they can teach them and provide knowledge to pass the exam, but the
final and actual step has to be exerted by the candidate. Teachers and mentors can
help you cultivate the attitude, but the quality of heart needs to come from within to
make a genuine Nation Builder. In my humble opinion, yes they have what it takes!

GREATEST DECEPTION PERPETRATED ON PEOPLE OF MY GENERATION BY OUR "UNBIASED" MEDIA

Let us be intellectually honest about the situation in the media today. How many right-leaning intellectuals occupy space in the mainstream media as on this day?
How many people in the main-stream-media (MSM) have the gumption to say that India is secular because its rooted in its indigenous culture and not because some leaders in 1947 chose to be so or it is written in the Constitution? Our people wanted to be secular.
We constantly hear about the ills of casteism, which we all agree to, but how many times have we heard about intellectuals appreciating universal outlook deeply inherent in our culture that sees unity in both living and non-living things. We don't need a constitution to tell us all religions are equal - we have followed it, enforced it, fought for it, and upheld it for eons. India is secular because people of India want it to be secular. We are secular because majority is Hindu.
The mind space that Babri Masjid demolition and 2002 riots occupies in the minds of people of my generation, does Kashmiri Pandit genocide occupy even an iota of that? Even though it was a far far far far more gruesome tragedy. What hurts me more is that whenever someone tries to talk about KP exodus, people start shouting him down saying one cannot compare one riot to another etc. Till today I don't know any details about KP exodus, although it happened not too far back. But I am always reminded about the details of Babri Masjid, how it happened, who said what, who was allegedly behind it.
I have intellectuals in the media tell me that Jehadi terrorism gained roots in India after Babri Masjid demolition. People like Amartya Sen, Ghulam Nabi Fai and others openly blame the demolition for the subsequent terror attacks in India. That incident created divide in the society and became the roots of terror in India. And MSM relays that effectively. Not once noticing that KP exodus in 1989-90 was just prior to that. How many temples must have been destroyed during the exodus, does anyone know? Has anyone seen Hindu terrorist outfits (if it exists) throw bombs every other month the way and the frequency at which it has happened with Jehadi terrorists over the last decade?
I have the west cry foul about Wendy Doniger's book withdrawal shouting for freedom of speech, but no one raised a voice when Modi was denied speaking at the Wharton university, or when Subramanian Swamy was banned from taking courses in Harvard for an Oped he wrote in India.
We hear paeans about Mahatma Gandhi and Nehru but nothing at all about Sardar Patel. We hear all sorts of perverse insinuations and expletives about RSS, but no one talks about the amount of relief work they have done in all the national tragedies and calamities, be -it earthquake or tsunami, or the Uttarakhand disaster. No one talks about how RSS workers were active in protecting the Sikhs during the 1984 riots.
An Imam on Timesnow newshour as a matter of fact says that for Muslims - Islam is greater than the country and justifies not singing Vande Mataram. But still goes on to argue how Modi is communal. These are the people who are given voice by the media to preach us secularism.
If I was not an alert reader, I would have fallen for all this nonsense and concluded that 2002 was the greatest tragedy in the history of India, RSS harbor terrorists, Hinduism has nothing good in it - only filled with caste divisions and other superstitious ritual nonsense, Mahatma Gandhi and Nehru are the only supreme leaders of India's conscience. And trust me, I know of many of my younger friends, my cousins who tend to think this way because that is what OCCUPIES MOST of the media-space.
It's about time right-leaning minds find their legitimacy in public discourse, and their voice respected and heard without branding them one way or the other, or making them feel apologetic about their views.

Background: This is an old Facebook post that I wrote long back. Putting it on the blog for reference.

Finally I Write....

My obsession with procrastination has finally ended, and here I am, writing my first blog, a desire that's been pending for a long time now, for years infact. First to make things clear, I am no writer - I possess a very academic vocabulary, accrued from my school years till my recent efforts or rather struggle with GRE. I am also no grammar/spelling fanatic, so do not pounce on me and make me (feel like) a criminal, if I say "I thinked" instead of "I thought", but ofcourse I would be more than happy to correct myself.

I have yet to figure out whether I got any flair for writing, and this is not an attempt to do that either. Writing for me is very subjective, in the sense it helps me structure my thoughts, opinions, and understanding of subjects and brings in clarity of thought.
I can at times really become a compulsive thinker, and go into a stint of what we normally call as day-dreaming. Anyways, here, with "Heads or Tails", I can probably make more meaning out of my day-dreaming sessions.

So, why Heads or Tails? I don't know, it just sounds "COOL". :P
Nah, just watched Dark Knight once again,  and something hit me hard which gave the name to the blog.

Joker

Harvey Dent
"I am an agent of chaos! Oh and you know the thing about chaos...It's FAIR" - By YOU KNOW WHO.
(Undoubtedly, the most extraordinary character of the movie - Joker played by a genius residing in Heath Ledger)

This one dialogue out of the several epic ones in Dark Knight, hit me hardest. This statement by itself does not weigh much, but the movie renders depth and meaning to it. The transition of Harvey Dent from the beginning, where he tosses this cent percent biased coin and states, "I make my own luck", to declaring at the end, again showing the coin one side burnt this time, "The only morality in a cruel world is chance. Unbiased! Unprejudiced! Fair", in my opinion forms the very essence of the movie.
From a life of Choice to one of Chance, from Control to Randomness. It was a fascinating yet thought-provoking transition.

And I believe in the attempt to strike a balance between Choice and Chance, as both are visibly unavoidable in our transactions with the world outside. We encounter them every moment.

So, for the time being, I simply CHOOSE to make friends with CHANCE.

P.S: Watch BATMAN Trilogy, it has much more to it that what meets the eye.
